Drugsales Ltd traces its roots back to 1843, when our direct ancestor Antonio Gera opened his first pharmacy in the heart of Malta’s capital - Valletta. Today, six generations on, Drugsales, which was incorporated in 1969, integrates the activities that were started so many years ago, and is a key player in the family’s group of companies.
Drugsales’ core business lies in the Pharmaceutical, Medical, Surgical and Scientific fields, in which it is one of the leaders in the Maltese Islands. Drugsales is one of the largest suppliers of these products to the Central Procurement and Supplies Unit (CPSU) of Malta’s Ministry of Health , which is the main purchasing body of the various state hospitals and clinics around Malta. Supply contracts are mainly carried out though a tendering procedure, in which Drugsales now has a wealth of experience. This includes a working knowledge of our competitors’ products, and their previous prices, enabling us to gauge the probability of our winning each particular tender. We can therefore provide a very valuable service to our principals, by identifying those areas that have the greatest potential, thereby channelling our resources to the most appropriate areas. The success story we have built is a testimony to the effectiveness of this strategy.
Apart from supplying the CPSU, Drugsales is also one of the leaders in supplying the private hospitals and clinics, as well as the large number of retail pharmacies all over Malta and Gozo, with our own dedicated sales and distribution team. We are also active in the First Aid and Hearing Aid market, and are constantly welcoming new suppliers and products to complement our range.
