How We Started
Our beginnings date back to 1843, when our ancestor Antonio Gera opened his first pharmacy in Valletta, Victoria Pharmacy, eventually renamed the New British Dispensary.
Back then, prescribed products were compounded and dispensed on-site; a fascinating contrast to the highly finished and tested products available in hospitals and pharmacies today.
The importation business itself began when Alfred Gera de Petri started sourcing items from manufacturers abroad, who offered high quality innovative products that had a real and solid positive impact both on the health of patients’ lives and contributed towards the advancement of healthcare entities established locally at the time.
This is what inspired the establishment of the company as we know it today, which was incorporated in 1969, integrating the activities started so many years ago, and which still remains fully owned and run by the family.
Where We Are Today
Today we are valued partners for leading international manufacturers, which provide Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, and other healthcare products.
We employ more than 50 persons locally, highly trained and very motivated; all of whom are considered our extended family members.
With a team of professionals dedicated to providing our customers with the very best the industry has to offer, we have nurtured a reputation built on our core values of Excellence, Integrity and Trust.
We are the local arm of the international corporations and companies we represent. We consider ourselves partners to each one, taking care of all the medical, sales, marketing, regulatory and logistic aspects of their function, and essentially being their ambassadors here in Malta. While adapting to our local market, we strive to mirror what they each individually represent in terms of products and values.

Our strong infrastructure and the significant expansion of our offices and state-of-the-art warehousing allows us space to take on further projects and keep on growing.

Timeline
Drugsales Ltd traces its roots back to 1843, when our direct ancestor Antonio Gera opened his first pharmacy in the heart of Malta’s capital – Valletta. Today, six generations on, Drugsales, which was incorporated in 1969, integrates the activities that were started so many years ago, and is a key player in the family’s group of companies.

1969 Activities are centralised at offices in Valletta, Malta’s capital.
1971 Larger store facilities are opened at Msida.
1975 Offices are moved to Lija to cater for additional space needed at the time.
1997
Opening of Warehousing Facilities in Ta’ Qali.
2016 The official opening of the Ferreri Business Centre, the new de Petri Testaferrata Head Office.
